This is staff work limited scope as an assistant to an executive. Employees in this class are responsible for carrying out a wide variety of assignments of limited scope and usually of a non-repetitive nature. Work involves areas such as obtaining facts, conducting research, making evaluations and analyses, serving in a liaison capacity between the supervisor and other officials and representing him at meetings and conferences. While knowledge of specific fields other than public administration is not expected of an incumbent upon appointment, ability to quickly learn and comprehend functions of and relationships within the department assigned is a prime requirement. Since all positions in the class involve a staff relationship to a superior, supervision exercised is not an important factor. Supervision received may vary with each project assigned depending upon the difficulty of the assignment. While much of the work may be completed by oral reports, written reports are reviewed in rough draft and work is generally subject to review either in process or upon completion.
