DESCRIPTION
The Asheville-based planning group is seeking a talented environmental field support technician to assist with stream and wetland mitigation project monitoring. The technician will also assist in field work involving vegetation management including the implementation of forest management plans and management of invasive plant species on private and public lands. The technician will also aid in benthic macroinvertebrate field sampling and laboratory sub-sampling and sorting. This role will be hands on with a focus on detailed data collection and analysis. Experience using Excel spreadsheets and strong communication skills are strongly preferred.

As we continue to grow our practice in the areas of forest management and benthic macroinvertebrate population surveys, the ideal candidate would have a relevant combination of skills in data analysis, pesticide application, operating ATV's and other off-road vehicles, and record keeping and report writing. Engaging with clients and community members across these project types will be at the core of this exciting opportunity.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• 4 to 6 years' experience with
  • Performing field work related to natural resource management and conservation.
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets and report writing.
  • NC Commercial Ground Applicator's License (preferred).
• Educational background with biology, field botany, freshwater ecology, and natural resources. (if other fields please explain the connection to the focus of this work)
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Valid driver's license and good driving record

Preferred Skillsets: It is not a requirement that the candidate possess all of these skillsets or experience. Please highlight any of these skillsets or experience that you do have.

• Experience with Integrative Pest Management
• Ability to gain NC Commercial Ground Applicator's License
• Field experience in forest and aquatic ecosystems
• Report document writing
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Data analytics
• CPR/First Aid
• Safety analysis

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $ 42,681.60 - $62,732.80 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
