RN - OR, Full Time week day hours & call rotation (Finance)
SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse in the OR manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of the Physician. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Assesses data regarding the patient's physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions based on the patient's age and development. Reports and documents all observed symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition.Utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver patient care. Developments, implements, revises and evaluates a formal plan of care.Administers medications using the "Five Rights of Medication Administration".Provides and instructs patients and/or their families or significant others with educational information appropriate for age and learning abilities.Provide assistance to the Operating Practitioner and CRNA.Participates in sterilization, stocking and case set-up.Prepares and cleans room, instruments and supplies as scheduled.Responsible for rotation of call coverage as assigned.Responsible for circulating and scrub nurse duties as assigned.Assists in Central Sterile and endoscopy.Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors, and other employees.Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care and increase productivity.Conforms and complies to the policies and procedures of Phelps Memorial Health Center.Adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures and the use of Universal Precautions.Possesses knowledge of PMHC's Safety policies, procedures and protocols i.e. fire, safety, disaster and tornado.Independently maintains and updates skills as BLS certification, required in-services and continuing education for professional improvement.Promotes effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications.Participates in OR Nursing Quality Assurance.Presents a professional, pleasant and positive image.Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports directly to theSupervisor of Surgical Services.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelors degree (BSN), Associates degree (ADN) or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.Current BLS/CPR certification.Current ACLS certification.
