Lab Tech Position Summary To serve our internal and external customers by ensuring the quality of all products that are blended, produced and packaged by performing product and package testing according to established company standards. Essential Functions Performs quality assurance checks and tests on finished product, raw materials (e.g. chlorine, water, raw CO2, sugar) and packages (e.g. filled cans and bottles) according to established company standards. Measures raw materials and blends product according to established specifications; adjusts blending equipment as needed to maintain quality standards. Adheres to all company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. OSHA and safety requirements, AIB and Pepsi standards, Federal/State/Local laws); wears all required personal protective equipment. Cleans, sanitizes and calibrates equipment (e.g. water and sugar lines, MicroBlend, CarboCooler, flex hoses) according to established standards; ensures equipment is operating according to established standards. Communicates with co-workers, supervisor and production management team verbally regarding the status of products, equipment and tests that need to be conducted on products and/or raw materials and other information; supervisor regarding questions or issues with daily assignments. Completes line check reports, water room reports, torque and seam check reports, calibration reports, batch sheets, time off requests and other required paperwork according to established standards. Maintains confidentiality of ingredient lists and formulas, product quality standards and other sensitive and confidential information. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required. Receives raw materials (e.g. CO2, sugar) and verifies paperwork to ensure materials meet quality control specifications. Uses forklift to transport raw materials (e.g. concentrate) from storage area to the lab and full goods from production area to warehouse area. Maintains cleanliness of work area (e.g. cleans up any product and/or raw material spills; disposes of trash and recycling materials into proper containers). Education High School or GED required. 2 Year / Associate Degree in Chemistry preferred. Experience 1 - 3years of quality control, laboratory or related experience. 1 year previous beverage quality control experience. Other Requirements Knowledge of: beverage production and quality control process. Skill in: internal customer service. Ability to: work quickly, efficiently and independently; wear a respirator; multi-task; communicate effectively with other employees and develop good working relationships; adapt to change; read; write; measure ingredients; be trained on operating blending equipment, air and torque checkers, forklift, fillers, seam check, brix and CO2 equipment, and other mechanical equipment; perform basic math functions (e.g. addition, subtraction).
