Bose Corporation is a leading innovator in the field of automotive entertainment systems and noise control and is successfully extending their market leadership into these areas. Bose seeks advanced development engineering staff to join and guide this dynamic, fast growing automotive business.
The Automotive Systems Division (ASD) team is looking for an Advanced Development (A/D) Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest to work on vehicle systems. This is an individual contributor role. The engineer will be working on aspects of in-cabin sound systems for future generations of Bose Automotive Audio Systems.
The A/D team prefers an experienced and hands-on engineer. The development tasks involve the design of electro-acoustic and mechanical concept and demo vehicles. These are the vehicles we create for audio system development together with our research department. It is an exciting position where you are at the forefront of what is possible with modern audio solutions.
Due to nature of advanced development work, we are looking for a creative and inquisitive personality. Our team prides itself through the broad versatility of skills that each member brings to the table, working together and learning from each other, the good and the bad. We prefer somebody who does not shy away from learning new skills as part of the work. Technical curiosity, interest and versatility in different technologies is highly desired. Occasionally learning new skills outside of the normal realm of ME responsibilities should not turn you off but instead, challenge and inspire you. You should be a mechanical engineer with a good intuition for how things work and should go together. It should be accompanied with decent analytical skills. You should be able to demonstrate experience developing creative solutions. A broad knowledge of materials will help you create the best solutions. You have experience with 3D printing techniques. We expect you to build out these skills over time. The candidate needs to be experienced with MCAD tools such Siemens NX or equivalent. Experience with structural simulation, thermal design, and mechanical component analysis capabilities will give you an edge. Part of your work is to develop guidelines for consistent deployment of the solutions for when we get closer to production.
As a self-motivated engineer you should be able to take on a variety of parallel activities and drive them to completion. The candidate should be resilient with technical failure and be creative in find ways to overcome such normal setbacks.
The work focuses on the creation of acoustic structures in vehicle seats, roof liners and the peripheral of the vehicles. It involves the design-in of various transducers mounted to acoustical structures in different locations of the vehicle. Aside from doing design yourself, you will also work and manage work performed with outside engineering service suppliers and part suppliers. You will work closely with our internal industrial design team to create vehicles that will assist the imagination of what the Bose system will look like in a real production vehicle. Occasionally, the work might involve working with OEM customers directly.

Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent degree, plus 5+ years of experience minimum.
