Marine Systems Technician (Engineering)
Safe Harbor Rockland Systems Technicians will be trained through a combination of mentoring, ABYC courses and OEM Product Training to develop their knowledge of: maintenance procedures; installation application requirements and troubleshooting using both computer interfaces and diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, refrigeration gauge sets, and product specific tooling.
Systems Technicians execute annual decommissioning and recommissioning procedures on the vessels stored at Safe Harbor Rockland.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Execute boat commissioning and decommissioning proceduresUtilize diagnostic equipment and Computer Interfaces to troubleshoot boat systems and componentsRepair, replace, and install new vessel systems and componentsEvaluate repair and installation jobs and prepare estimated for hours and materialsMust possess own toolsAvailability to work overtime in order to meet deadlinesOther duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately
Technical and Physical Requirements
Strong aptitude for understanding and repairing how mechanical / electrical devices.Experience working with hand tools and fixing thingsTechnical School training preferredMarine or Aircraft experience preferredABYC Certification will be required if not already achieved prior to hireAbility to ascend and descend a ladderAbility to work in small and tight spacesAbility to lift 50 pounds
