Senior Marine Systems Technician - Full Time (Project Management)
Senior Systems Technicians execute annual decommissioning and recommissioning procedures on the vessels stored at Safe Harbor Great Island. These procedures are iPad-based and guide the technician through the process while capturing critical data for the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with Service Manager to provide accurate and detailed work orders Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required Expert knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems Proven experience troubleshooting, repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not limited to electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets Excellent time management skills, customer service, attention to detail, and self-motivation Promote and encourage a safe working environment Provide timely updates and takes initiative to exceed member satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming challenge Must possess own tools Significant experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred Serve as a mentor for technicians new to the field or SHM Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlinesOther duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Marine Technical school training preferred 10 years + experience preferred ABYC Master Technician preferred Multiple certifications across engine brands Ability to ascend and descend a ladder Ability to work in confined spaces Ability to lift 50 pounds Basic boat handling skills preferred
