Trade Support Representative (Finance)

The Trade Services group within Operations is seeking a Trade Support Representative in Minneapolis, MN.

This position provides functional, end-to-end support for the accurate and timely settlement of Piper Sandler's trading activities with customers. Responsible for executing a variety of trade reconciliation/confirmation functions in accordance with industry practice, regulatory requirements and service level commitments. Provides high quality service to external clients, trading counter-parties, internal partners and the clearing vendor.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with sales and trading, customers, and clearing agents throughout the customer trade life cycle to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of customer transactions; monitor trade allocation, affirmation and settlement work queues to maintain service level commitments, operational effectiveness and industry standards.
• Provide fixed income product life cycle support for new and when issued securities, mortgage-backed paydown factor updates; assuring the accuracy of customer disclosures, trade settlements and inventory positions.
• Perform daily reconciliations between the firm's inventory positions and front-end trading systems to keep information flow in alignment with counter-parties and service vendors.
• Interact with support and clearing vendors to institute process changes to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability while reducing the rate of exceptions and increasing straight through processing.
• Participate in industry initiatives, system upgrades and regulatory changes through user acceptance testing, user advisory and quality assurance.
• Learn functions for other desks within the group to maintain a support network model and understanding of interdependencies of process transfers.
• May run and prepare routine financial reports and analyses.
• May assist in preparation of monthly performance reporting for management, which help measure operational efficiencies and identify areas for improvement.
• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree in Accounting/Business/Finance.
• 0-2 years of work experience.
• Prior experience with analytical software a plus (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Hyperion)
• FINRA SIE and Series 7 licensing or willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Individual will be working in a team environment, which requires interaction with various levels of staff and management.
• Must constructively deal with pressure and time sensitive deadlines, be multi-task oriented, and be able to take work direction from various sources.
• Other skill set requirements include: excellent problem solving skills, effective communication skills, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (especially Excel and Word).

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $50,000 - $60,000 per year . Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
