The Art Therapist is responsible for providing group secessions utilizing either Painting, Music, poetry writing, Dance or other such creative activity. Assess patients ability to process leisure and social functions, interests, and needs cognitively and emotionally as part of the multidisciplinary team and creative arts department through use of art assessment and treatment.Assess established treatment goals and objectives to meet individual needs and specific age level of patients and determine the creative arts modality by which these goals are achieved.Observe, assess, instruct, and monitor patients in appropriate use of equipment and supplies used in creative arts activities and document patient response and progress towards goals.Apply clinical skills by interviewing and assessing patients level of social behavior, leisure functioning, creative processing, and cognitive structuring/processingObserve patient participation in creative arts interventions and their response and adjust interventions accordingly.Coordinate creative arts activities in large groups to encourage socialization of patients.Coordinate creative arts class in small groups to promote expression of feelings, coping skills and identification of issues through alternative media and modalities.Use the facilitys Incident Reporting system, report incidents or accidents as they occur.Conduct individual patient sessions, and conduct lectures, as necessary.Confer with other treatment team members, superiors, and families regarding patient considerations/availability of resources.Maintain a positive and professional rapport with patients, staff, and physicians.Possess competency and understanding to Addiction as it pertains to the job positionReports and responds to Co-Occurring Disorder issues of client as it pertains to the job positionReports and responds to issues of Trauma of clients as it pertains to the job positionReports Suicidality/Homicide of any clients as it pertains to the job position.Sensitive to Cultural Issues of clients as it pertains to the job position.
