Research Assistant I - School of Dentistry (Finance)
UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Research Assistant I to join their team of professionals. Research activities may include research projects in the areas of tissue regeneration, cancer biology, immunology, immunotherapy, biomaterials, and other related scientific areas. Specific activities may include a variety of scientific experiments requiring some or all of the following: mandibular defect surgery and tissue harvesting of rabbits, nerve resection and coaptation surgery, calvarial defect surgery and tissue harvesting of rats, tumor inoculation/monitoring/harvest in mice, fluid collection in mice, staining of histological samples, microscopy, histomorphometric image analysis, micro-computed tomography analysis, immunoblotting, mammalian cell culture. Certification for lab safety, performing animal research must be completed within 1 month of employment. Experience with animal work preferred.
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program or funding.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
No years of experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
