Position Description
This is an Assistant General Counsel position within Kinder Morgan, Inc.'s ("KMI") Midstream Group, reporting to the Vice President and Managing Counsel of KMI's Midstream Group. This position would be primarily responsible for supporting KMI's Natural Gas Group with gas marketing transactions. The core responsibilities will include the negotiation, drafting, and implementation of all forms of various gas marketing transactions, including NAESBs, confirmations, precedent agreements and transportation agreements.
This position will also support business development and day-to-day commercial operations for KMI's gas intrastate, gas gathering and NGL assets, including the negotiation, drafting, and implementation of transportation agreements, gas supply arrangements, NGL purchase agreements, gas gathering and processing agreements, and other commercial agreements.

The ideal candidate would be admitted to the Texas Bar with 7+ years of legal experience with either a reputable law firm or a midstream energy company, or some combination of both, engaged in legal practice regarding business transactions, including gas marketing.
KMI is seeking a candidate with excellent writing, research and communications skills and experience working directly with senior and executive leadership of large organizations.
This position is for a team player who is flexible and willing to pitch in and do what it takes to efficiently and effectively operate Kinder Morgan's extensive midstream platform day to day while also working to capture business opportunities as part of a larger team.
Candidates should also have some experience with pipeline operations, integrity and safety regulation. There is also a need for the candidate to have some experience analyzing whether various activities, business structures and other relationships trigger regulation under various federal, state or local statutes and regulations.
