Custodian I (Finance)
The Custodian I completes sanitation of restrooms, showers, and locker facilities and replenishes supplies. This person sweeps, mops, or vacuums floor surfaces, and removes trash from all assigned areas. The Custodian I also cleans chalkboards, walls, and other items as required and cleans, polishes, and moves furniture and equipment for special events when needed. This person meets with customers for feedback on work performed, may lock and unlock buildings, and cleans, polishes, and stores equipment after use.
Rice University's custodial department is looking for a flexible and motivated person who likes and enjoys cleaning. Additionally, this person needs to be able to get along well with others, be responsible, and be committed to keeping their assigned areas clean, meeting our department's cleaning standards. Finally, the ideal candidate would be respectful, responsible, and innovative, always looking for different ways to improve the cleaning of the building, and be passionate about customer service.
Workplace Requirements
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, and the salary starts at $15.00 an hour. Non-exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in person. The work schedule available is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
This position is considered essential during a campus emergency. The incumbent in this position is expected to report to campus, provide the essential services designated, and work.
