ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The director will lead a department committed to preparing student leaders for leadership opportunities in their daily lives, focusing on enhancing students' leadership and learning outside of the classroom. The new director will outline policies and expectations for student and chapter education regarding community standards and risk management strategies, and oversee successful membership recruitment practices in alignment with national and university procedures and guidelines. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for strategically leading the unit and ensuring that FSLL initiatives and priorities align with the strategic direction of the student experience and belonging portfolio and the division of student life.
This student success-focused position supervises one associate director and a part-time administrative assistant. They will indirectly supervise two program coordinators and manage an operational budget of approximately $400,000.00.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership, strategic planning, assessment and advising for a fraternity and sorority community of over 2200 students, focused on values based student engagement. The community consists of 48 fraternities and sororities and 5 governing councils.
Supervise and or oversee 4 professional staff members 1 Associate Director, 2 Student Development Coordinators, 1 (1/2 time) professional personnel, and Student Graduate Assistants, and student employees along with the oversight of an approx. $400,000.00 budget.
Develop and implement values-based programming, advising, leadership development, community Development, and risk management programs and initiatives that lead to student academic and personal success while fostering a lifelong affinity to the university
Collaborate with campus colleagues in particular Housing and Residential Education and Student Conduct and Ethical Development. Communicate with local, regional and national Fraternity and Sorority offices and advisors: work with Local alumni/ae/graduate groups and Tampa Community.
Serve as a member of the Student Affairs/Dean of Students team and serve on Student Success and Institutional committees, judicial hearings, and councils.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of seven years related exempt experience, including five years of managerial experience. Experience leading a team, project, program or function.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
The candidate should have at least 7 to 10 years of increasing responsibility and leadership in student affairs, particularly in working with fraternal organizations, Must have should skills and experience in the areas of communication (oral and written), program planning and implementation, supervision, student group advising, student organization skills, the ability to develop and maintain relationships, and commitment to the ethical development of students and staff. Night and weekend work will be required.
