A Day in the Life
Senior Lab Manager - R and D
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: - Directs and coordinates laboratory support personnel to advance R&D initiatives and support project milestones - Support environmental health and safety initiatives through timely safety inspections, inventory and PPE and daily walkthroughs, while ensuring safety compliance. Interface with corporate EH&S team to drive consistency across organizations - Financial and cost center management of multiple R&D cost centers and over 2 million in annual spend - Assure equipment calibration and maintenance for R&D organizations, while measuring key performance in the areas of on time calibration, OOT/NC reporting, equipment lifecycle and utilization of equipment and environments - Serve as facility management liaison for R&D organizations - Ensure effective operation of all laboratory equipment and serve as a point of contact for service and repair of R&D equipment - Capital equipment budgeting and procurement for R&D organization, including customer engagement and AOP planning - Coordinate consumable supply ordering and stocking for lab environments - Organize and participate in vendor negotiations, product and SW evaluations and facility planning and lab modifications - Lead and execute functional and operational excellence initiatives within the R&D organization that support lean methodology, facility and portfolio projects - Lead business continuity management assessments for applicable R&D areas - May trouble shoot, repair or administrate electrical and mechanical equipment - Conduct quarterly lab clean up and 5S initiatives to ensure cleanliness and organization in R&D labs Report:
Oversee area of responsibility, managing performance, developing talent, engagement and inclusion, communicating business and operational developments, planning, prioritizing and / or directing the responsibilities of direct reports. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and / or indirect reports which includes: accountability for mentoring, developing and coaching staff on meeting/exceeding performance expectations and defined objectives, providing leadership to staff ensuring the prioritization of strategic and department level initiatives to include defining performance goals and targets, conducting performance reviews, and staff 1:1s to guide performance management and employee development efforts and manage toward departmental goals.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. • 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$173,600.00 - $260,400.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
