Are you a dynamic and safety-conscious leader with a passion for aquatics? We are looking for a skilled Director of Aquatics & Water Safety to join our team and oversee the daily operations of our lifeguard team, pool schedules, and safety protocols. As the Director, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities, all while maintaining the highest safety standards.
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking someone who is not only highly organized but also possesses a deep commitment to safety and teamwork. You should be a proactive problem-solver, capable of managing both staff and pool operations while maintaining a positive and supportive environment. We need someone who thrives under pressure, is detail-oriented, and takes pride in ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lifeguard Leadership – Hire, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards to ensure consistent lifeguard presence in the pool area at all times.
- Payroll & Scheduling – Maintain and ensure payroll accuracy for lifeguards while managing schedules effectively.
- Pool Operations – Organize pool maps and collaborate with the Swim Lesson Director, Membership Director, and Competitive Swim Team Coach to ensure the pool meets everyone's needs while optimizing space for various activities.
- Training & Safety – Certified to teach first aid, CPR, and lifeguard courses. Host regular safety courses and training sessions to maintain a high level of preparedness and safety. Conduct monthly in-service training and skill checks for lifeguards.
- Certification Compliance – Maintain and organize all lifeguard and swim instructor certifications to ensure they are in compliance with regulations.
- DPH Licensing & Pool Permits – Oversee DPH licensing standards for all pools and ensure the successful renewal of pool permits annually. Keep updated CPO logs for accurate record-keeping.
- Clear Communication – Act as the primary point of contact for communication regarding pool activities, ensuring patrons and staff are informed about any schedule changes or operational updates.
- Administrative Support – Manage administrative functions for both Marblehead aquatics and competitive aquatics programs, ensuring smooth operations.
- Pool Rentals – Coordinate pool rentals and work with Athletic Directors in local school districts to ensure contract details are finalized and adhered to.

- Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably within an aquatics or pool setting.
- Knowledge of DPH licensing standards and pool safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining high standards for safety and service.
