JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of Academic Leadership, the Educational Assistant plays an integral part in supporting the learning and achievement growth in the classroom. He/she will receive direction from the classroom teachers and will utilize innovative strategies to work directly with individual and/or group of students. This includes tutoring, intervening, supporting, administering/proctoring tests, behavioral management, and facilitating lesson plans. The purpose of the EAs is to ensure that teachers receive adequate support in working with students in the classroom and to inspire scholars at school.
The Educational Assistant must demonstrate a strong work ethic, have integrity, and is accountable to his/her actions. He/she will align himself/herself with NMAs core principles and understands the unique challenges of an immigrant and refugee community. A successful EA will also have experience in a high performing fast paced environment.
Instructional Support
Mentor, coach, and inspire students to be engaged in classroom assignmentsReinforce and review concepts and skills. Assist students in activities initiated by the classroom teacher.Carry out the instructional program as planned by the teacherMonitor and check student workGather/track data as requestedAssist small groups or individual students as requestedSupport SPED students individually and/or within groups
Organizational Support
Before and After school duties including, but not limited to bus loading/unloading, arrival and dismissal assistance, monitoring students in transition between programsHallway monitoring and ensuring students follow the RHINO WaySupport operational and academic staff during special eventsMaterials support as needed including but not limited to producing materials, setting up activities, collecting/distributing work to students
Behavior Management Support
Be a positive influence on all staff and studentsObserve and chart data as requestedCirculate classrooms/areas with students to provide support as needed
